Abstract
A relevant topic related to post-truth issues, which is of an interdisciplinary nature, is touched upon in this research work. The author's paradoxical style of writing, which consists in showing an objective picture of reality through the subjective view of one journalist. In the age of disinformation and fake news, the boundaries between truth and fiction are blurring, which prevents an adequate perception of the current situation of reality. Analyzing the media material presented in this article will allow readers to understand to some extent the play conducted by those who work in modern media, especially in the socio-political sphere.
The goal is to identify the features of gonzo texts written by the American publicist, writer, journalist and activist H.S. Thompson.
The material of the study was the works of H.S. Thompson “Better than sex. Confessions of a political junkie”, “Hey Rube! Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and the Downward Spiral of Dumbness”. The empirical base of the study was formed using a continuous sampling method. The study uses an interpretation technique that involves reliance on contexts.
In the course of the study of H. Thompson's gonzo texts, we come to the conclusion that this type of a media text must be studied and specific features in the analysis and combination of political media texts should be taken into account.
