Representation of Expressiveness of Bernard Clavel’s Modern Literary Fairy Tales in Russian Language: Syntactic and Phonetic Aspects

The significance of this article is due to the difficulties encountered in conveying the means of imagery and the means of artistic expression in a special genre - the modern literary fairy tale. The empirical base for this study was the literary fairy tales “Le hibou qui avait avalé la Lune” (1981), “Odile et le vent du large” (1981), “Le voyage de la boule de la neige” (1987), “Le roi des poissons” (1987) by the contemporary French writer Bernard Clavel (1923–2010) and their translations by N. Brodskikh, I. Volevich, Y. Stefanov. The article identifies and analyzes the main features of the representation of the emotional component in two aspects – at the syntactic and phonetic levels – in the translation of Bernard Clavel’s literary French fairy tales. The analysis of the transfer of expressiveness of figures of speech is presented through the prism of transformations: stylistic correspondence, stylistic reinforcement, stylistic individualization, stylistic substitutioninversion and stylistic weakening. The methodology of studying the individual authorial style of the writer has made it possible to identify the most productive stylistic transformations in conveying the emotional component. Thus, the vector of translation studies of modern literary French fairy tales in the perspective of representation of the emotional component in Russian has been outlined.
