Abstract
The phenomenon of verlan has been known and used in the French language for a long time. Nevertheless, verlan remains enigmatic. Thus, the objective of this article is to develop and implement a teaching technique for introducing verlan to third-year university students majoring in Linguistics. This method aims to achieve both disciplinary and interdisciplinary outcomes, as well as to foster the desire to study and creativity, as required by FGOS VO (3++). The object of this study is the process of developing the skills related to the creation and use of verlan terms in a spoken language. This article addresses the following tasks: 1) to describe and analyze existing techniques for teaching slang; 2) to present a technique of teaching verlan; 3) to apply this technique in student learning; 4) to analyze the effectiveness of this technique. The proposed approach consists of four stages for developing linguistic skills: the formation, decoding and use of verlan terms in oral communication; listening comprehension of authentic materials; speaking; individual and team work; the use of technology. The method was tested on a group consisting of ten students. By the end of the experiment, all the students had acquired linguistic skills and developed creativity by producing videos featuring verlan terms in different contexts.
