Abstract

The identification of basic communicative tactics in the "interview" speech genre, which occupies a significant place in modern mass-media discourse, is an urgent task, the solution of which allows us to see the value attitudes of its participants, discover the motives of their speech actions, and establish the most frequently used linguistic means of implementing the interviewees' communicative intentions. The analysis includes 105 interviews published in the Russian media. The interviewers are representatives of the domestic show business. Self-presentation of representatives of show business can be implemented both explicitly and implicitly. In this genre, the leading positions are occupied by communicative tactics of self-presentation and compliment. Their frequent use in a single text complex is due to the communicative intention of the participants of the domestic show business in a complimentary way to evaluate the activities and personal qualities of media personalities and position themselves as their maximum status equals. The tactic of complimenting a third party who is an authority in show business through a conversation with a journalist is used by the interviewee as an effective self-promotion tool that acts as an effective way to publicly declare oneself and gain popularity. The most frequently used language tools in the speech embodiment of these tactics are positively evaluative epithets (unique, priceless, talented, wonderful, amazing), which have a significant translocative effect.
